Set up and run by husband and wife team, Ray and Michele Pinder, the business has gone from strength-to-strength after the couple discovered a niche in the market in 1999 to build a successful family firm and although the recent reccession has had an Impact on most small buisnesses  they still continue to offer a fast friendly professional  value for money service without compromising on quality or customer satisfaction.

The business incorporates a sizeable well equipped workshop and expanding retail business.

Simon McLoughlin has been a dedicated part of the team for above ten years. As workshop manager Simon is kept abreast of all the latest product knowledge and electrics to ensure all fittings are completed to the highest standards. As part of his ongoing training, Simon has completed the AL-KO Service Engineer Training Course qualifying him to carry out warranty, service and repair work to AL-KO products. and has also undertaken industry specific training to understand modern vehicle electrical systems and how they can effect towing systems

Located in Harris Precinct on Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot, the company specialises in fitting towbars and the associated wiring required to enable today's complex vehicles to communicate with caravans, trailers and other towbar fixed products.

Most modern vehicles are equipped with complex electronic systems which monitor all systems on the vehicle and in some instances towbar fitting involves the installation of vehicle specific wiring kits and associated software downloads to activate safety features and change specific vehicle systems when towing by interacting with the vehicle CANBUS or MULTIPLEX wiring systems.  Rest assured that the staff at Barnsley Towbar Centre have the knowledge, specialist equipment and product support to fit the correct wiring solution to the complex electronics systems fitted to your vehicle

Barnsley Towbar Centre is a National Trailer and Towing Association Approved and Quality Secured Accredited centre. Its workshop facilities consist of two dedicated, purpose-built fitting bays, with a third bay set up for trailer repairs and servicing.

Ray said: "We can usually offer a choice of fixed UK-type bolt-on towbars, swan-neck towbars and also a selection of detachable swan-neck towbars.

"We carry in stock more than 500 towbars, so most cars can be quickly and efficiently installed with the correct towing solution.

"If we haven't got the one you need, we have next-day delivery available from all the top towbar manufacturers so can usually source the correct towbar and have it fitted within a few days.

A growing number of car dealers, insurance companies and fleet operators, throughout South Yorkshire are using Barnsley Towbar Centre more and more often to supply their towing solutions to their customers vehicles, they find the specific knowledge available reassuring when undertaking work on their complex and expensive vehicles.

All towbars fitted get a first year warranty safety check free-of-charge, this includes checking the mechanical parts of the towbar along with a test of the towing electrics ensuring all Is well for a further years towing giving customers complete piece of mind.

Reversing sensors or parking aids are also popular, and these can be supplied colour-coded to match your car's bumper.

We are also able to supply and fit Motor movers to your caravan, these are becoming more popular as modern caravans become bigger and heavier and allow precise movement of the caravan when hitching up or parking In tight spaces.

The Towbar Centre offers a wide range of small to medium trailers for sale and has a further selection available to hire, at daily and weekly rates. These range from camping trailers and small goods trailers through to a car transporter trailer, or box trailer suitable for small removal jobs.

Other items available for commercial vehicles include heavy-duty roof racks, rear steps and ply lining kits and beacons.

The Towbar Centre also offer a range of roof racks, cycle carriers and roof boxes for both cars and commercial vehicles.

The retail shop boasts a full range of trailer parts and is an Aladdin's cave for caravanning and towing essentials and accessories. The vast array of stock includes trailer lighting, jockey wheels, trailer wheels and tyres, hitches, brake cables, prop stands, trailer covers and a great deal more.

There is also a camping and caravanning accessories section where you can find caravan cleaning products, toilet chemicals, towing mirrors, tent and awning pegs, bulbs, fuses, caravan leisure batteries and a wide range of trailer and caravan security devices.

The centre is also DVLA authorised to produce number plates.

Ray said: "We are continuously expanding the shop's range, making it easier to get your camping and caravanning essentials from one place, locally our most recent investment being in a range of LED trailer lighting these are brighter and more reliable than conventional trailer systems making a safer alternative when replacing faulty or damaged trailer lighting.

 . We are keen on customer feedback and listen to them regarding Items they would like us to consider keeping in stock, however  if we don't have what you need on the spot, our suppliers can deliver most items the next day."
