The concept of Duvalay's simply ingenious, comforting mattress-toppers arose from necessity.

Along with the many millions of people worldwide who embrace caravans as their homes-from-home. Liz and Alan Colleran were troubled by the insomnia and back-pain associated with caravanning, where the perfect leisure environment is so often compromised by a frustratingly uncomfortable bed.

Driven by success

In 2003, after decades of discomfort and dissatisfied with the quality and value of existing caravan bedding products, the husband-and-wife team hit upon the idea of an innovative, superior, comfort-enhancing mattress-topper. The Collerans' aim was to harness the posture-saving luxury of emergent memory-foam technology, dramatically enhancing their lifestyle as well as filling an all-too apparent gap in the market.

Working from the living room of their family home, Liz and Alan set about making their dream a reality; commencing an extensive design process, testing and re-testing numerous styles and materials until Duvalay's lightweight, portable memory-foam was born.

Rapid growth

An immediate success business flourished as satisfied customers endorsed and recommended the Duvalay, rapidly establishing its market-leading reputation. Unprecedented demand soon saw Duvalay boosting British industry and relocating from the Colleran's kitchen table to its first factory in Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Here, as enthusiastic customer enquiries flooded in, the original Duvalay portable mattress-topper concept evolved; leading to innovative, custom-made and off-the-shelf mattresses, pillows, mattress-toppers for boats, motor-homes, trucks, campervans, travel and the home.

Dragons' Den and beyond

The Duvalay story rocketed to fame in 2011 when Liz and Alan along with their much-loved, heroic flagship product, the Duvalay memory foam sleeping bag, embarked upon a nerve-wracking journey to the Dragons' Den. Their appearance led to national brand-awareness as well as a business-boosting investment by 'Dragon' and Pall-Ex empire founder, Hilary Devey, who recognised Duvalay's fantastic versatility and unique universal appeal.

Fresh from the Dragons' Den, Duvalay outgrew its original factory and eventually moved on to its latest Gomersal site. Complete with its welcoming, homely, drop-in showroom, exciting enhanced production-line and office space for its growing workforce.

Duvalay continues to go from strength to strength. Thanks to its latest, innovative Duvalite range, the ultimate night's sleep is now even more environmentally friendly. Duvalite's moisture-dissipating material delivers excellent benefits. Its hypoallergenic, temperature-harmonising memory-fibre technology offers enhanced pressure-relief, resists dust-mites, and is ultra-durable. Thirty-five per cent lighter than memory-foam products, Duvalite's memory-fibre makes a significant impact upon fuel costs and ahead of European directives, is fully recyclable.

Partnership with Swift Group and further growth

No wonder the UK's largest caravan manufacturer, the East Yorkshire-based Swift Group, has signed an exclusive, revolutionary deal to fit Duvalite's ultimately comfortable mattresses in their top-of-the-range caravans and campervans.

With inter-continental expansion well underway and many exciting projects in the pipeline, Duvalay is constantly progressing towards its ongoing aim to become a sleeping necessity for the leisure industry.
