I'll start by saying I love Chester Lakes, my kids love running round in the field and it's nice to see site renovation happening... that being said, 30 quid / night is expensive considering the distinct lack of facilities included with the price, for example - the single shower block that was available last year (for an additional charge of £1) was being used as storage. The single point at one of the field is also annoying, given the on site experience I'd say lifting the edge of the field to put additional water points wouldn't be too difficult. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with waste as nothing is marked up (or at least I couldn't see anything). Whilst on the field I found a few objects that had clearly gone through the mower and created hazards - cans, and shredded broom handles being the main culprits (there was a snap on torch too, which survived the whole ordeal).
I'm not adverse to paying that kind of money, but this is what I consider the upper limit of my noghtly cost and the facilities don't reflect that.
Now... the positives, the bar staff are always friendly and always willing to lend a hand, just having a big field takes it all back to basics, which I love.
The views are phenomenal, and when the sun is out nothing beats relaxing with the background sound of the local wildlife.
